We'd rather have already been to Ghana. We'd rather know that we'll be headed to pick up some precious cargo in 3, 6, or 9 months from now. We'd rather use on of Mac's patented "Magic, Magic, Green Light!" choruses to get things moving. Rather, in the space of a week, and with one powerful pronouncement, the Prime Minister has effectively shut down international adoptions in Ghana. --------Zap------- So Bry and I and Mac and Newt will do the same thing that many other adopting families have done...we'll wait patiently. And with patience we'll wait because every Christian waits patiently. We've read the Psalms, and we know that anyone who knows the Lord, already knows that what he is doing is marvelous.

PROBLEM:
Adoption in Ghana has been shut down for restructuring of Governmental offices and procedures. Hopefully, the prime minister is doing something noble, it's hard to get enough of the news to know for sure. What we do know is that the movement of other families that we wrote about last time, was well-grounded. 

ANSWER/SOLUTION:
We're now on a waitlist for both Ghana adoptions and Ethiopian adoptions. Our Agency has been good to work with and has made the holding pattern pretty easy. We're #7 on Ghana, #49 on Ethiopia's waitlists. Our wait time with Ethiopia is approximately 10 months from last week if everything happened smoothly. Ethiopia will be a little more expensive, but we've been told that most of our funds toward Ghana will be able to be used for Ethiopia, which is encouraging. We're staying on Ghana, just in case something would change in the next couple of months, but we expect that Ethiopia is our most likely path to tread.

CONCLUSION:
So that's us...waiting...patiently.

For those of you wanting the wild, exciting madness we call...waiting, here are a couple of updates to stir your imaginations:

(1) On the waiting list side of things, we have moved up the waiting list from #9 to #7. That's a good thing, although we're not quite sure what it means. A couple of the families have transferred from the Ghana program into another country's waitlist. We're hoping that God has just opened the doors for us to receive children sooner, but we're also curious why a couple of families would change. We've got some exploring to do, but we're excited to move up in the batting order either way!

(2) On the "Hey, you can support us in this way..." side of things. Here's a link announcing a 5K (that's like 3.1 miles for those of you who like me refuse to join the metric world) that our Church and others is sponsoring. Click on it, download the .pdf and you're good to go. If you want to come run/walk/stroll/crawl (uncomfortable)/march/or cartwheel the 3.1ish miles and raise money to bring home Anderson babies, Bry and I would be grateful.
